Tokyo finally finds gold Tokyo Treasure shed his maiden tag at the eighth attempt with a gutsy effort in the Follow Us On Instagram Handicap at Cork over six furlongs. The son of Profitable was runner-up on his fifth start, which was arguably his best run, and he looked like a winner in waiting that day. Although unable to capitalise since, the drop in trip for the four-year-old gelding seems to have improved him. Joey Sheridan's mount headed up the stand-side group in the early stages, but he was about four lengths down on the other group after two furlongs. Owned by Ben Browne, he came under pressure two furlongs out and edged right against the rail in the closing stages. The 11/1 shot stayed on strongly to just get up by a neck from Nouvel Espoir (11/1). John Riggens stayed on from the rear for third, beaten only a length at the death. Winning trainer Patrick Foley commented, "he deserves that after being narrowly beaten in Gowran and, at Roscommon the last day, we thought the seven-and-a-half furlongs caught him. We dropped him in distance today, he has the early speed for six (furlongs) and we'll keep him at that now. "That's my first winner for Jim Browne's son Ben, so I'm delighted to get it. The horse might be for sale but I'd love to keep him for as long as possible though and if he isn't sold, could also go for a E100,000 handicap in the Curragh next."
