Toormore ready for National call-up Richard Hannon's unbeaten juvenile Toormore is under serious consideration for the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. The Middleham Park Racing-owned youngster made it two wins from as many starts with an impressive display in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and features among just nine remaining entries. With Aidan O'Brien responsible for four contenders, the race could cut up even further and Middleham Park racing manager Tim Palin feels it could be too good an opportunity to pass up. Palin said: "I've only just seen the entries and we haven't made any final decision, but my gut feeling at this stage is that we should be running on Sunday. "He hasn't done any proper work since Goodwood, but I spoke to Richard Hannon jnr last night and we decided we would leave him in in case the race cuts up and there are only the nine entries now. "He is a very clean-winded horse and very easy to get ready. We could give him one piece of work later in the week and he'd be ready to run on Sunday, he's that sort of horse. "We have probably five options for him - we could run him on Sunday, we could run the Lagardere in France, we could supplement for the Dewhurst, we could run in the Racing Post Trophy or we could not run again this year. "I would need to speak to the owners and the trainer, but there is no Kingman, no War Command and no Australia in the race on Sunday and my initial reaction is we should run." O'Brien has Expedition, Friendship, Giovanni Boldini and Wilshire Boulevard engaged, while David Wachman's Phoenix Stakes winner Sudirman is set to step up beyond six furlongs for the first time. Toormore could be joined on the trip from Britain by Kevin Ryan's Gimcrack winner Astaire. The field is completed by Jim Bolger's Fiscal Bonus and the Ger Lyons-trained Sniper.
