Toormore to bypass Ascot for Goodwood Toormore will sidestep this weekend's Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile at Ascot and instead head straight for Glorious Goodwood at the end of the month. The Richard Hannon-trained four-year-old ran a tremendous race on his seasonal reappearance in the Lockinge at Newbury, going down by a neck to stable companion Night Of Thunder, and was far from disgraced in finishing fourth behind French star Solow in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. He was declared for this weekend's Group Two feature in Berkshire, but will now wait for a likely rematch with Solow in the Qatar Sussex Stakes on July 29. Tim Palin, racing manager for owners Middleham Park Racing, said: "He won't be running on Saturday and will instead wait for Glorious Goodwood. "He's entered in the Lennox Stakes, but I think the Sussex is distinctly likely to be his next race. He's better at a mile. "We're also looking into the possibility of the Prix Jacques le Marois. It is possible to do Goodwood and go to France. "The other option is to go back to Turkey in September for the race he ran in last year and got beat as a 1-5 favourite. "He's definitely in better form now than he was at this time last season."
