Paul Townend is confident that he will be back in time for the Galway Festival, despite being currently out injured.

The former champion jockey has been suffering with back pain since been brought down at Wexford on June 19th, his last ride.

He said yesterday afternoon: "I’m suffering from back pain and I’m just taking time out to get it sorted.

"I’m having physio and swimming and I should be back in a couple of weeks. I’ll be back for Galway, there is no fear of that."
