Rogue Trader made all for an impressive victory in the concluding bumper at Navan this afternoon.

Nina Carberry kicked on in the straight on the Milan gelding to record a comprehensive 13-length winning margin over Ryback Jack

The Charlie Swan-trained gelding, sent off a 4/1 shot, had shaped with promise when seventh at the track on his only previous start back in March. Triple Island was a well-backed 2/1 favourite (7/1 in morning) but could only beat two home in the end.

“We always thought he was a nice horse but he had a few little niggly problems,” said Swan.

“He looks more like a chaser than a hurdler but he'll go for a maiden hurdle next.

“I don't think ground will matter to him. He's a very good mover and is clear in his wind. I'd say he wouldn't mind deep ground.

“He's a real staying type of horse. He'll probably have a couple of runs over hurdles before going chasing next year.”
