Treble up for Oxx with Swing

Atlantic Swing opened her account in good style in the fillies maiden to give John Oxx a treble at the Curragh this afternoon.

Johnny Murtagh, notching a brace himself, alway had his mount handy from her low draw and sent the filly for home turning into the straight.

The American-bred daughter of Stormy Atlantic stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a cosy three-and-three-quarter length success over Azores

The 11/2 winner had been third in a Dundalk maiden back in April before picking up an injury.

"She won well. From the number one position she had to hold her position," said Oxx afterwards.

"I thought she might be racing a bit keenly but she was obviously not taking too much out of herself and she quickened up well.

"She's not a bad filly and it might be worth taking a chance in the (Listed) Trigo Stakes (Leopardstown October 30th) with her.

"It's hard to see where she fits in and that might be a bit tough but we might just let her take her chance.

"She had a little setback after her first run but is grand now and perfectly sound. She could make a nice four-year-old and the plan is to keep going with her.

"She's adaptable ground wise as she handles that and also ran well at Dundalk."
