Trendelenburg goes in again

Trendelenburg was well supported in the Australia Day Handicap Hurdle at Limerick and ground out victory for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Paul Carberry produced his mount to challenge in the straight and he got the better of Rockers Field going to the last.

The 2/1 favourite (from 11/4) kept up the gallop to the line to hold the late surge of Goban Saor by a length-and-three-quarters.

The son of Definite Article was following up a hard fought victory at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day.

It was an across the card double for Elliott, who had also claimed the first race at Musselburgh with Silverlord.

"Paul gave him a great ride. He crept his way into the race," said Elliott.

"He's not big and hopefully there is another little handicap in him. He's in again at Fairyhouse on Saturday. We'll see how he is and what the handicapper does.

"I'm delighted as he's owned by my father and uncle and a few local people."
