Treve turned a competitive-looking renewal of the Prix de Diane Longines into a rout at Chantilly this afternoon after the 11/1 shot quickened away nicely to score by four lengths for trainer Criquette Head-Maarek.
Thierry Jarnet settled the unbeaten filly at the rear as Sage Melody and Baltic Baroness set an even gallop and was in no hurry to make his move as the eleven-strong field turned for home.
Jarnet was in no mood to give up the far-side rail and only moved his mount wider to avoid the weakening pacemaker but when he asked the daughter of Motivator for her effort, the response was immediate and she burst to the front in a matter of strides to put the race to bed. The runner-up spot was filled by 25/1 outsider Chicquita with Silasol back in third.
Head-Maarek had been without a Group One win since Fuisse won the Prix du Moulin in 2010 and has been largely out of the limelight of late.
However, it seems inconceivable that Treve will not now be running in all the big races from now on, such was the manner of her success.
The daughter of Derby winner Motivator was a first Classic winner for her sire, who now stands at the stud of Treve's owners, Haras Du Quesnay.
The disappointment of the race was undoubtedly Pouliches winner Flotilla and it would be no surprise to see her drop back to a mile.
Tasaday ran well for a long way and was just out of the places but Marcel Boussac winner Silasol appeared to have every chance.
Treve is quoted by some layers as an 8/1 shot for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
