Trifolium has second breathing op Trainer Charles Byrnes hopes a second breathing operation will turn around the fortunes of Trifolium. The six-year-old was well beaten on his comeback run at Punchestown in October, after which he underwent surgery to correct a breathing issue. However, it was clear the problem had not been fully rectified when he finished last of four in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle in December. Byrnes said: "He's had another breathing operation since his last run. Maybe the Red Mills Hurdle in Gowran might be an option for him. "I'd like to step down in grade with him. I think a Grade Two would be hot enough for him at this stage."
