Three Irish trainers enjoyed victories at Cartmel today.

There were no less than five Irish raiders in race two - the extended 2m6f maiden hurdle - and it was Gavin Cromwell's Free Handshake who obliged under Sean Flanagan.

He was always prominent and hit the front again two out before staying on well to score by three and three quarter lengths at 13/8.

Brian Hughes rode A Mere Bagatelle (8/1) to victory in the Class 4 handicap hurdle over an extended two miles one for Shark Hanlon.

He worked his mount to the front after the final flight and the duo went on their way to win by three lengths.

The final race on the card - the Class 4 novices' hurdle - saw Ted Hastings win by seven and a half lengths for Gordon Elliott.

Sean Bowen kicked the 5/4 favourite clear off the final bend for an easy success.
