Truckers Tavern a possible for Down Royal feature.

Trainer Ferdy Murphy has indicated that last season´s Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern is likely to make his seasonal debut in the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase at Down Royal next month.

It was thought the gelding would make his reappearance in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday week but Murphy stated yesterday that the firm ground in England is a big concern of his.

He added 'The plan was the Charlie Hall but the way the ground is at the moment, I´d think it would be too firm. We´ve made an entry for him in Ireland and I´ll be going over next week to look at the ground.'

Meanwhile, trainer Tony Mullins yesterday entered Royal & Sun Alliance Chase third Bannow Bay in the Wetherby race, thus casting doubt over his participation at Wexford on Sunday.

Mullins stated 'if he runs well at Wetherby, he then goes for the Hennessy Gold Cup.'
