It all came down to the final jump in Killarney's opener, the INCO Broking Maiden Hurdle over two and a-half miles, as Early Dawning (2/1) emerged victorious for Wille Mullins and Paul Townend. Tyson Fury held a narrow advantage over the son of Authorized rising to the last, but got it all wrong, leaving the Turkish-bred hurdling debutant to come home in front by a length and a-quarter.

The five year-old is owned by Michael O'Riordan and Seamus Hennessy.

“I thought I was probably getting the better of the argument anyway, maybe that’s what forced the other horse into a mistake,” said Townend.

“He was a little keen early on, but he jumped brilliant on the whole.

“It’s a long time since he had a run, and I think he’ll improve away from it.

“He probably enjoyed the ground. They are just taking the top off it, it’s beautiful and on the kind side. I think it’s what they describe it as, good, good to yielding in places.”
