Two Irish winners at Ayr Following on from the Irish double on the polytrack yesterday with Shane Donohoe's Star Links and Denis Hogan's Amazing Star, at Wolverhampton, there was further joy for raiders from the Emerald Isle cross-channel today with a brace up in Scotland at Ayr. Layla Joan (tongue-strap on here) is certainly a mare on an upward trajectory and the smooth traveller cleared away from Stuart Crawford's Fine Rightly, from the last, to score in the BetVictor.com 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle. Gordon Elliott trains the six length winner and Tony McCoy (bringing up a double having landed the first on J P McManus' Stonebrook for Donald McCain) did the steering. Meanwhile at the end of the programme roles were reversed as a Crawford newcomer beat an Elliott first-timer in the bumper. This time it was the Crawford representative, Heritage Way that took the eye in running. Once Steven Crawford let the Tamayaz gelding, bred by Alfie Buller and owned and trained by his brother Stuart, on about his business inside the last, he pulled out what was required to defeat The Unsub (Gordon Elliott and Tony McCoy for owner John Earls) by a length and three parts.
