Two from two for Lawlor as Murat makes all to win bumper Trainer Peter Lawlor maintained a perfect record at this years festival when Murat made all the running under Finny Maguire to land the concluding Fr. Breen Memorial (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Galway. On the mark on the Flat with Summer Snow earlier in the week, Wicklow based trainer Lawlor made it two from two as the 9/2 chance blazed a trail from the front. A winner on his racecourse debut at Killarney last August, the six-year-old was produced in excellent shape to double up in this competitive winners' bumper. Pushed along to assert turning into the straight, Murat momentarily looked in trouble as Patrick Mullins edged closer on market leader Al Arrivee. However, the eventual winner stuck to his task well, galloping on strongly for a one-and-three-quarter length success. Peter Lawlor said: “We decided to make it as we felt there wouldn’t be much pace. He’s keen going and kind of hard on himself and is still green. “He won’t be a horse until next year as he’s big and raw. “Finny did a great job. He was very awkward going around the bend but he has an engine. He opened up a lead of six lengths and I knew he was going to stay galloping. “He is a smart horse.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee.
