Gordon Elliott runs Chosen Mate in Saturday's American Grand National at Far Hills in New Jersey.

The Well Chosen gelding won the Grand Annual Handicap Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival and was last seen in action when finishing fifth over hurdles at Killarney in May.

Also in the line-up for the 150,000 dollar contest is The Mean Queen who won over hurdles at Wexford in April when part of a small team of horses that her trainer Keri Brion campaigned in Ireland over the winter.

“There are only four in the National and Chosen Mate is in good form," said Elliott.

"On ratings he looks the top horse in it.

“Jury Duty won it for us a couple of years ago. It will be good ground and Chosen Mate will like it.

“(Down Royal winner) Realist also runs in the Juvenile Hurdle.

“We have two good chances and they have both travelled out well. I’m looking forward to it.”

Davy Russell rides both Elliott runners on a card which sees plenty of other Irish riders in action including Coral Cup-winning jockey Richie Condon and Irish Grand National winners Ross Geraghty and Ben Dalton.
