Twomey hoping Memphis can grab Group 1 glory Paddy Twomey is hoping City Of Memphis can make her mark at the top level after a fine run to finish second in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown last weekend. The Sioux Nation filly chased home brilliant winner Blue Bolt in the Group 1 prize and Twomey is eyeing more big targets with the four-year-old. The Golden handler was also represented by Trean in Group 1 company last weekend and the Goffs Million is now on the agenda for the National Stakes fourth. “We ran two at the weekend, both in Group 1s,” said Twomey. “City Of Memphis was coming there off a shorter prep and I thought she ran really well. I thought Trean ran really well in the National Stakes as well. “I thought for both of them to hit the board in Group 1s was good. “You could look at the First Lady in Keeneland (with City Of Memphis), on Saturday two weeks, but I’m not really wanting to travel her. “If I was travelling her I’d probably wait until the Breeders’ Cup. “I’d say either the Sun Chariot of the Foret on the same weekend, one of those. We’ll see how she is. “She’s a filly that I haven’t over-raced and she has a lot of talent. She can win one of those. “Trean won well in Galway and he had a nice run in York but I thought he just wasn’t in the same form before the race as he was in Galway. “He was in good form before Sunday and I said to the syndicate ‘I’m going to run him, you’re not going to run many horses that can run in Group 1s and I think he’ll be competitive, ignore his price’. “He ran really well, maybe got tired in the finish. He’ll go for the Goffs Million now in two weeks.”
