Madeleine Tylicki believes there is more to come from Liffeydale Dreamer following her creditable effort in defeat at Aintree on Saturday.

A winner on the Flat at Ballinrobe during the summer when trained by Adrian Keatley, the daughter of Azamour finished sixth on her hurdling debut at Punchestown and was a largely unconsidered 40-1 shot when stepped up to Listed class on Merseyside.

However, she belied those odds to finish second to the dominant winner Chica Buena.

Tylicki said: “We were absolutely delighted with her. She is owned by Sean Murphy, who bred her as well, and it’s so important to get that bit of black type.

“Since she came to us we introduced her to a bit of schooling and she took to it really well. We spoke to Sean to see would we go down the hurdling route and he was very supportive of the idea.

“She ran a lovely race in Punchestown to finish sixth — she got a lovely educational ride — and I was very pleased with her. At that stage we already had Aintree in mind, and everything went to plan.

“She travelled over really well and the whole experience was brilliant. Sam Twiston-Davies had a plan going out and it all just fell right for us, he gave her a lovely ride. To finish second was brilliant and she will only improve — it was just her second run over hurdles.

“She is after strengthening up and has really improved mentally as well since we started schooling her. I’m really fond of her and I think there is a lot more to come from her.”

Considering future targets, the trainer added: “We are going to sit down with Sean and make a plan. She came out of the race really well and the journey doesn’t seem to have taken much out of her.

“We are thinking about races around Christmas or New Year’s Eve if all goes to plan.”

Tylicki, whose brother Freddy was a Group One-winning jockey and was recently announced as a new addition to the Sky Sports Racing team, trains just a small team from her base in Newbridge, County Kildare.

She said: “I wouldn’t have too many for the winter. We mainly have young horses and yearlings. We have a good few Flat horses now and a couple of jumpers.

“I have a nice team of horses for next year and I’m very happy with them.

“With us, it is more quality over quantity and I’m really looking forward to next year.

“There are a couple of really nice horses that have joined the yard and I’m very excited about them. Fingers crossed now.”
