Tynan family celebrating as Orla off the mark It was a big night for the Tynan family at Fairyhouse this evening as Orla Tynan partnered her first winner when Solomon Coop sprang a 33/1 shock in the apprentice handicap. The Twilight Son gelding tracked the leaders in the ten furlong contest before hitting the front passing the two pole. Matty Tynan’s charge was nicely on top inside the final furlong and was a cosy winner at the line, beating Si Senior by two-and-a-quarter lengths. The winning trainer is the rider’s grandfather and he said afterwards:- “We got this horse to give Orla some experience and get her going but little did we think we’d be winning at Fairyhouse. It’s unbelievable and she gave him a great ride. “She gets up at half six in the morning to ride out and she just loves horses. “I’m in the game a long time and it’s the best racing day of my life. When your granddaughter rides a winner for you — I’m glad I’m alive to see it!” 18-year-old Orla Tynan is apprenticed to Andy Slattery. She was having just her fourth ride tonight.
