Undefeatable opened his account at the ninth attempt for the trainer and rider combination of Kevin Smith and Wesley Joyce in the Baader — Eddie Carr PBR 2000 Handicap at Sligo.

The son of Invincible Army had gone close on a couple of occasions and didn’t enjoy the clearest of runs when narrowly denied at Down Royal earlier this season.

The well-backed 3/1 chance got on top inside the final 150 yards for Wesley Joyce to beat Pinmoney by two and a half lengths.

Topweight Masked Angel was a head further back in third.

Smith said, “He was unlucky a few starts ago in Down Royal and coming back in trip was a help.

“Gary Carroll reckoned he didn’t handle the track at Bellewstown. Hopefully he’ll be competitive over that trip.”
