Unlucky Break For Dettori Jamie Spencer is the new odds-on favourite for the jockeys´ title after his main rival Frankie Dettori suffered a broken left collarbone at Sandown Park on Saturday. Jamie, who shone with a 58-1 four-timer at Carlisle´s evening meeting to add to his one winner from earlier in the day at Haydock, was cut from 6-4 to 5-6 by Paddy Power, while Dettori, who now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, was pushed out to 8-1 from 7-4. The Italian was hurled to the ground when Celtic Mill clipped heels with Lafi approaching the furlong marker in the Group Three Laurent-Perrier Champagne Sprint Stakes. He was on the ground for several minutes before he was whisked away to Kingston General Hospital for X-rays which confirmed the break. Dettori was driven home to Newmarket to recuperate and is expected to be out for anything between three and six weeks. He had been dealt a blow on Friday when his mount Shamardal was ruled out of the Coral-Eclipse Stakes after suffering a career-ending injury. The jockey then received a late call-up to partner Italian raider Altieri in the Group One race, but had to give that up. The seven-year-old finished third. ? PA Sport
