Ursumman On Course For Aintree

Ursumman is on target in a bid to break JP McManus' hoodoo in the John Smith's Grand National.

The leading Irish owner has come close on numerous occasions in the world's greatest race, but has yet to win the Aintree showpiece.

But in the shape of Niall Madden's Ursumman, McManus has another contender who appears to have plenty going for him.

'Everything is rosy with him and if it continues he will run in the National, we couldn't be happier with him at the moment,' said Madden.

Ursumman finished fourth on his last outing in the Galway Plate behind another McManus runner, Far From Trouble, whose participation in the National is in the balance.

He will also enjoy an 8lb turnaround in the weights with that rival from a five-length defeat.

'He has a good racing weight (10st 7lb) and he seems to be in good form with himself,' added Madden.

'I would just like it to dry up a little bit, it's been so wet everywhere.

'Good to soft ground would be lovely for him.'

Ursumman can be backed at 100-1 with bet365 but is as low as 33s with VC Bet.
