Valentino ecplises his rivals at the third attempt The Fozzy Stack-trained Valentino Eclipse got off the mark at the third time of asking in the Celebrating County Kildare And Lexington Twinning Maiden over six furlongs at the Curragh. Second on debut in a Leopardstown maiden, this son of Gleneagles gave a similar showing on his second start, when fourth in a mile maiden at this venue. Well supported at prohibitively short prices, 4/7 into 2/5, he broke sharply and made virtually all on the stands side under Seamie Heffernan to score readily by three and three-quarter lengths. Port Arthur (25/1) stuck on for second, and A Good Yarn (7/2) was a further two lengths behind in third. The latter was caught on the wing and probably ran well in the circumstances. Stack commented, "He did that well. He's a horse we've always liked. He probably didn't quite get the mile here the last day and is probably a six or seven-furlong horse. He is a horse that could turn into something. He probably needs a little bit of ease underfoot. I had a couple of good horses out of the family before, this fella could turn out to be the best of them. They were all kind of 90 plus horses." Additional reporting by John O’Riordan.
