Vega team bide their time on Guineas call Connections of Blue De Vega will leave the decision on his participation in Saturday's Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket as late as possible. Although yet to be seen out this season, the Michael O'Callaghan-trained three-year-old is as short 12-1 to make a winning return in the mile Classic. Despite tasting defeat on his debut, the son of Lope De Vega has since posted two victories, including in Group Three contest on his final start at Leopardstown in October. David Redvers, racing manager to the owners who include Qatar Racing, said: "He is the most exciting three-year-old colt we have in training this year. "He is very smart and he ended up winning two races very impressively last year. He worked smartly at Dundalk the other night doing some exciting fractions. "He had his final spin on Tuesday morning. Colin Keane, who rode the piece of work, said ideally he would need another 10 days to two weeks but we are being swayed towards running as we sponsor it. "If we didn't (sponsor it) we would give him a run in Ireland on Monday then go for the French race (French 2000 Guineas). The decision if he runs will be made at the death."
