The well backed Velocity Boy is likely to prove one of the easiest winners of Limerick's Christmas festival, staying on strongly for an easy win in the Roches Feeds Maiden Hurdle at Limerick today.

Ridden by Barry Cash, the son of Westerner took the lead from the fourth hurdle and probably never saw another rival from that point, staying on strongly for an eased down 12 lengths win.

The winner had been backed from 7/2 in the morning into 5/2 SP and following the race, winning trainer Willie Murphy stated "he was a good point-to-point winner and always was in a hurry to get things done. He's a good horse on that ground and needs it heavy."

"He just loves galloping and jumping and I'll try stepping him up in class now. Hopefully he's a very good horse and is a chaser in the making."
