Vera's Secret wins Brownstown to remain unbeaten at Leopardstown The John Feane trained Vera's Secret continued her love affair with Leopardstown when making all under Seamie Heffernan to win the Group 3 Xin Gin Irish EBF Brownstown Stakes (Fillies & Mares). Off the mark at the Curragh last July, the daughter of Epaulette stepped forward to land a decent pot on her first visit to Leopardstown on Champions Weekend last September. Returning to the Foxrock track on her reappearance in May, the six-year-old made all to land a Group 3 prize. Far from disgraced when beaten just three lengths in a higher grade last time, the mare was well supported to resume winning ways here. Smartly into stride under Heffernan, the 11/8f gave weight and a beating to her seven opponents. The Ger Lyons trained Chavez looked a big danger over a furlong out but had no more to give from over 150 yards out. Dance Night Andday ran on late under Dylan Browne McMonagle to pick up valuable black type back in second. “It was lovely to get her to win again,” said Feane. “Chantez took her on early and they were going good fractions. In fairness to that filly she kept at it to finish third. “Seamus thought our filly was idling in the last furlong. He said she knew where the winning post was, which was nice. “She did a lot of running today, it was a nice performance.” The winner broke very smartly and Feane added:- “She’s lightning and she’s getting more professional with her racing. It was lovely to get another Group 3 out of her.” Vera’s Secret holds an entry in the Matron Stakes and when asked if she could take up that entry he said:- “Possibly, we’ll see.”
