BoyleSports makes Lambourn a red-hot 5/6 favourite for Sunday’s Irish Derby after a field of 10 were declared for the Curragh showpiece.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained three-year-old was a three-and-three-quarter length winner of the Epsom Derby earlier this month and is set to renew rivalry with Derby second and third, Lazy Griff and Tennessee Stud on Sunday.

The Middleham Park Racing-owned Lazy Griff will have the assistance of William Buick in the saddle but will have to spring a small surprise at 12/1 if he’s going to reverse the form with his Epsom conqueror, while Tennessee Stud, who made up eyecatching ground across the Irish Sea, is 4/1.

  • 'Dominant performance'

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: "It was a dominant performance from Lambourn in the Epsom Derby and punters are clearly expecting more of the same at the Curragh.

"He’s been very strong in the betting and looking at the market, it could be a case of déjà vu with the Epsom 1-2-3 proving to be a popular combo once again."

    Irish Derby Betting Market Analysed

Lambourn won the Epsom Derby for O'Brien relatively unchallenged by his competitors with Charlie Johnston's Lazy Griff in second and Joseph O'Brien's Tennesse Stud in third.

Lazy Griff made a late charge but in the end was not able to close to Labourn at Epsom.

At the time of writing, he is fifth in the odds for the Irish Derby and it is Tennessee Stud who is seen by punters as Lambourn's biggest challenger. Green Impact is third, with Pride Of Arras completing the top five.

The Dante winner gave up their unbeaten record at Epsom, and his connections will be hoping he will be back to his best at the Curragh.
