Lilshane enjoyed a good victory in the Cube Veterans Handicap Chase at Limerick.

He came in by three lengths in this race for 10-year-olds and older.

The 10/1 shot was pushed along by Kevin Brouder to chase Laid Back Luke on the run to the penultimate fence.

The 10-year-old's headway continued as he took a narrow lead at that fence and he scooted clear of his only challenger Laid Back Luke at the last.

Laid Back Luke (8/1) tried to cut into the lead on the run-in but had to give best. He was 12 lengths in front of 8/1 shot Flemenstorm though.

Trainer Tom O'Connor said: "He is very genuine but he is very unpredictable; sometimes when he gets to the start he whips around and rears up and passing the stable yard he can whip around left.

"I didn't even put a bob on him today as my aim was just to get him going (at the start). Kevin gets on well with him and long may it continue.

"I have his full sister, who runs later, and she has to go down early as she has a kink too. If she goes down with the other horses she bolts so it's in the family."

He added "anyone can send me a horse as long as it's a good one - I'm too old to be dealing with bad ones!"
