The evergreen Itsalonglongroad recorded a fifth course win when making most to land the Heinz Pollmeier Memorial Handicap Chase at Tramore.

The 11-year-old gelding, who was making his 108th career start under all codes and recording his 12th victory, still has a great zest for the game and dug deep again at the business end under Shane O’Callaghan.

Charles Coakley ’s charge was strongly pressed by Lady Rose Hackett at the penultimate fence but kept on strongly after a fine leap at the last to beat that rival by three-quarters of a length. Mist On The Bog was just half a length further away in third.

Winning owner Patrick O'Leary said, “I don't know what happened him the last day. I think he might have hurt a hoof and that wasn't really him.

"He was down on the beach yesterday and we freshened him up for today. It was a tough enough race and he only won by three-quarters of a length, but we are delighted with him.

"He fell in this last year when we fancied him well. Any horse that you bring here and wins five times, you'd be delighted with. He is an 11-year-old with 108 runs under his belt and still tries like that. It's hard to put it into words really.

"He's looked after so well and he's our star."
