Via Galilei goes jumping at Taunton Via Galilei, twice a winner on the level when with Jim Bolger, and in possession of a rating of 105 when he last saw action (at Cork in the middle of October), will begin his jumping career at Taunton tomorrow under Andrew Glassonbury in the Southwest-racing.com Novices’ Hurdle (Division 2). By Galileo, out of an unraced mare called Manger Square, a half-sister to smart seven furlong performer, Speirbhean – the dam of Teofilo, Via Galilei certainly lacks nothing on breeding. Winner of his maiden at Wexford, the five-year-old showed what he is capable of when defeating Drunken Sailor (a winner for his new yard at Meydan last week) by four and a half lengths under top-weight in a Curragh handicap over a mile and a half back in June. Bolger suggested after that victory that his charge had grown up a fair bit mentally. Bolger's Glebe House Stables later sold Via Galilei to Gary Moore Racing for 60,000 guineas at the Autumn Horses in Training Sale at Tattersalls in Newmarket in October.
