Supreme Vinnie is set to take his chance in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan on Friday.

The Denise O’Shea trained eight-year-old was twice successful at the Co. Westmeath venue last year, while he also landed a valuable Grade C contest at Gowran in October.

The son of Vinnie Roe won again on the level at Killarney in May, and since finished third on his first two starts over fences.

He has been given a mark of 118 by the handicapper, seven pounds lower than his rating of 125 over flights.

"I have him entered in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan on Friday so hopefully he'll go there," O'Shea revealed.

"He ran a cracker in Limerick the last day. We were a little bit unsure of the trip over three miles.

"Obviously he won a Grade C over three miles but it was only his second time out over fences at Limerick. We were delighted with him.

"It has kind of been the plan all year to go for the Midlands National. He likes Kilbeggan, he won two nice races there last year.

"I have him entered in the beginners chase as well. That was only a precaution in case he didn't get in to the Midlands, but there is only nineteen entries so he should get in.

"Rachael (Blackmore) will ride him. They seems to be like an old married couple at this stage, they get on very well.

"Hopefully we'll have a dry week and if he comes out of Kilbeggan safe and well we will march on to Galway.

"We'll see how Friday goes, but he'll have an entry in the big race on Monday because he has been running well on the Flat. He was unlucky last year when second in the 2m 6f handicap hurdle on the Saturday, so he'll probably have an entry in that as well.

"He could have an entry or two in a few chases as well, but we'll see what happens Friday."
