WEATHER THE KEY TO NICHOLLS` PLANS

Paul Nicholls will keep a close eye on the weather this week before finalising plans for the rescheduled Gerrard Tolworth Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday.

The two-mile Grade One contest has been saved from Sandown`s abandoned card last Saturday.

'I`ll enter both Valley Henry and St Pirran and see what the week brings before making any decisions. I won`t decide until Friday - the weather is the key,' Nicholls said today.

'Valley Henry likes to get his toe in but I wouldn`t run St Pirran on heavy ground.'

Valley Henry and St Pirran have won two races each this season and Nicholls added: 'They are both nice novices and in a normal year you would run one in the Challow Hurdle and the other in the Tolworth and you would know the time of day but because of the bad weather that`s not the case this time.'

However, the Ditcheat trainer`s Lakefield Rambler, who also missed an opportunity at Sandown, will run on Saturday.

'They haven`t saved the MildmayCazalet so he`ll go to Warwick for the Tote Scoop6 Warwickshire Gold Cup,' Nicholls added.

Nicholls` stable star See More Business, who disappointed when favourite for the Pertemps King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, has a choice of options for his next race.

Nicholls said: 'He`s fine and there are the three possibles for him, the Pillar Property Chase (at Cheltenham on January 27), the Irish Gold Cup (Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 4) and the AON Chase at Newbury (February 10).'
