WOLVERHAMPTON OFF All-weather racing in Britain suffered another blow today with the loss of this afternoon`s meeting at Wolverhampton. An inspection this morning found the fibresand track was unfit for racing, following sustained bad weather over the past week. It comes just three days after the controversial late abandonment of a televised all-weather Flat fixture at Lingfield, whose meeting tomorrow is subject to a check today by the Jockey Club inspector of courses. Wolverhampton clerk of the course Michael Prosser said: 'Following two 13-degree frosts, five inches of snow then two-thirds of an inch of rain on Sunday night and another third last night certain parts of the course have become patchy and in the interests of safety we feel we have no option but to abandon. 'I feel very sorry for the groundstaff who have had no Christmas or New Year as they have been working on the course for 24 hours a day but we cannot take any chances.' There are no problems reported for today`s other meetings over jumps at Ayr and Folkestone.
