Walk On Bye takes on O'Brien colts in Phoenix Stakes

Walk On Bye faces seven rivals as she puts her unbeaten record on the line in the Camas Park & Ashtown House Studs Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Tommy Stack-trained juvenile saw off the colts in testing conditions when landing the Anglesey Stakes last time, and takes on the boys again in Sunday's six furlong Group 1. The Brian Meehan-trained Radiohead was among four horses removed at the final declaration stage.

Aidan O'Brien's Lillie Langtry is another significant absentee but the Ballydoyle handler is still four-handed with Railway Stakes winner Alfred Nobel his chief contender.

Walk On Bye will be having her second race in just under two weeks when she turns out at the Curragh, and Stack's son and assistant Fozzy admits that is a quick return for the Danehill Dancer filly.

"It's quite a quick turnaround - it's her third race in four weeks. We've not done too much with her since the Anglesey and she seems well," he said.

Walk On Bye is entered in both the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes at York next month and Newmarket's Cheveley Park Stakes in October, but Stack reports she is unlikely to travel to Britain this year as she continues the hunt for Group One success on home shores.

"That (the Lowther) won't happen. She'll run on Sunday and won't run again until the Goffs Millions Sprint at the end of season," he told At The Races.

The ground at the Curragh is currently described as soft to heavy.
