Walkinmayotomilan a popular winner in Ballinrobe The well-named Walkingmayotomilan (17/2) was a popular winner of the Bay Leaf Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe. The five-year-old daughter of Walk In The Park, ridden by Shane Markey, had struggled on both of her previous starts under Rules but showed significant improvement as she eased into contention and led inside the final half-furlong to win by a length and a half. Winning trainer Ross O'Sullivan said "She had some good runs in point-to-points. "She likes good ground and was disappointing on soft ground during the winter, but ran well after a break in Galway. "This race looked ideal, but it was still competitive. She missed the last, but toughed it out well. "She just gave a little gurgle in Galway, so the tongue-tie helped. "Between the mares' allowance and Shane's claim, she was getting 14lb from some of them. "I'm delighted for Shane, he works hard and that's his fourth winner. "She's a fine big mare and will jump a fence. "She's owned by a proud Mayo man, Damien Conway, and he was on the phone straight after the race. He has a couple of horses with us and loves his racing." (Quotes from Mark Nunan)
