Ruby Walsh has backed Annie Power to make a swift recovery after lameness saw her ruled out of a big-race assignment at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

The star mare, trained by Willie Mullins, was declared for the Bar One Racing Hatton´s Grace Hurdle but she was taken out of the race shortly afterwards.

Walsh will now ride stablemate Zaidpour in the Grade One over two and a half miles.

The jockey told the Irish Examiner: "As I headed to Newbury (on Thursday morning) the news filtered through about Annie Power being lame behind and it really was the last thing I wanted to hear.

"Annie is a great mare and would certainly have been a short price for the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

"She has won 11 of her 12 races and I was particularly looking forward to riding her.

" Hopefully, she will be back before too long.

"Zaidpour is a decent horse in his own right, but there is only one Annie."
