Walsh shines on Down Under

Mark Walsh judged the pace to perfection as Down Under ran out an easy winner of the Streamstown Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan. Altiepix took them along in the 3m1f and himself and Knockanarrigan pulled clear of the field from the fifth fence.

Knockanarrigan went on three form home and Walsh still looked to have plenty to do on Down Under going to the second last as he moved into second.

The Fran Flood-trained gelding came to claim his rival over the last, however, and didn't have to be asked a question to go on and score by nine-and-a-half lengths.

Fran Flood (junior) said:- “He’s been some servant, and is a right one to have. We could do with a few more like him.

“He loves it around here (third course and distance win), and we’ll have to think about the Midlands National now. He’s really honest and genuine.”
