Brian Hamilton is looking forward to a second tilt at the Fox Hunters' Chase at Aintree in April with Warne after he got back to winning ways at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

The 10-year-old won the same Fairyhouse contest 12 months ago before going on to finish fourth over the Grand National fences on Merseyside and Hamilton feels his charge is capable of improving on that fine effort this time around.

While most of the leading hunter chasers are preparing for the Cheltenham equivalent, Warne will be kept fresh for Aintree and Hamilton believes his extra preparation time will be a big advantage.

Hamilton said: "I was delighted with him and he's all set for Liverpool now.

"We didn't even enter him for Cheltenham as the trip is too far for him. He could have gone there and finished maybe fifth or sixth, but then you blow your chances for Aintree.

"He jumped well around Aintree last year, so we're keen to give it another go and see if he can finish a bit closer.

"For whatever reason I think he's in better form this year than he was last year.

"Last year he was well beaten in the race at Leopardstown before he won at Fairyhouse, but this time he had a good run to finish third before winning yesterday.

"If all goes well between now and then he must go to Liverpool with a serious chance."
