Weather claims Redcar's fixture on Monday Monday's meeting at Redcar has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track. Officials inspected conditions at 11am on Sunday and were forced to call off the Flat card after substantial rain left the course unraceable. General manager Amy Fair said: " We have abandoned the meeting due to a waterlogged track." The National Hunt action scheduled for Fakenham, Plumpton and Chepstow on Monday must all pass precautionary inspections if they are to go ahead. Fakenham's clerk of the course David Hunter reported the track to be fit for action on Sunday, but feels it best to check conditions again at 7am on raceday due to the possibility of further overnight rain. He said: "We would have raced today so the inspection is precautionary, but there are further showers forecast. "We were forecast one to five millimetres of rain on Saturday and ended up with 13mm, so when the forecast can be that wrong, we felt it best to call a precautionary inspection. "As we would have raced today, I would be hopeful for tomorrow." Plumpton is fit for racing on Sunday, but clerk of the course Mark Cornford is anticipating some overnight rain. He said: "We are fine for racing today and would be hopeful for tomorrow, but we have called a precautionary inspection based on the weather forecast. "We're on the edge of a Met Office weather warning for rain and could get 4mm to 6mm overnight, so we will have a look." Officials at Chepstow have called a further inspection for 7.30am on Monday ahead of their meeting. An initial assessment was made on Sunday morning, with the track reported to be heavy and waterlogged in places. Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "Because it's a nice day today, we will give it another try in the morning. "It was dry overnight and we are forecast a mainly dry day today, with rain tonight and overnight. We will give it every chance and make a decision in the morning." Wincanton's National Hunt meeting on Tuesday was also abandoned. The ground is already heavy, waterlogged in places, and there is the possibility of another inch of rain overnight. Over 40 millimetres has already fallen at the track since its meeting on Wednesday. Pontefract's Flat card on Tuesday must also survive a 9am inspection on Monday.
