Weld can look ahead to big targets with Purview Purview made an impressive reappearance at the Curragh last month and followed up in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free International Stakes. Trained by Dermot Weld for Juddmonte Farms, the son of Kingman travelled well to lead two furlongs out and was shaken up to go about three lengths clear just inside the final furlong. Colin Keane didn’t need to get serious aboard the evens favourite as the advantage was reduced to three-quarters of a length over Trustyourinstinct at the line. Hotazhell was the same distance further back in third. Weld said, “I was delighted for the horse and for the owners. Juddmonte have been great supporters of mine and I appreciate the family’s support. “He’s a very talented colt; he’s beginning to fill into the promise that I always thought he would. I think there is a long year ahead of him still and we’ll look at different options. “I’ve always been thinking that at the end of this year he would come to his peak, so today was only a step along the way.” When asked if he was tempted to go to Royal Ascot he added, “I think I was always going to bring him here. I know I was bringing him back from a mile-and-a-half, which we now know is probably his optimum distance. “The Irish Champion Stakes is obviously a definite target for him, seeing that he won today. “Colin and I were fortunate enough a couple of years ago to win the Breeders Cup Turf and it’s back where we were successful. I think he could be a horse for that race. “He’s entered for the Arc as well. I’ve always seen the end of the year for him, but the Arc can get very heavy. As you saw today, he has a nice bit of pace. “Colin rode him right up on the pace so he’s a horse that will handle Keeneland very well. He’s a very smart colt and I still think we have more to come. “I thought he was very impressive when he won here on Guineas Day and he did it nicely today. He idled when he was in front and I think he’ll be a lovely horse as the year progresses.” Keane said, “He was entitled to do that. He was very good here on his reappearance and was coming back a couple of furlongs on nicer ground. “He’s a horse who promises a lot in the morning and is starting to reap the rewards now. “He’s a very good-looking horse and has done well from three to four.” Quotes by Gary Carson
