Weld ends day on a high note

Dermot Weld had a bad start to Stephen's Day at Leopardstown when his highly regarded Rite Of Passage had to be withdrawn shortly before the first race having banged his head in the horsebox on the way to the track.

Weld, however, ended the day on a high after saddling Elegant Concorde to win the concluding Irish Foal Levy Flat Race.

Elegant Concorde was sent off the 8/11 favourite and didn't let his supporters down when coming late on the scene to score by two lengths from long time leader Spill The Beans

Weld commented afterwards: "Robbie (McNamara) left him with plenty to do, he rode him with extreme confidence. This is a very good horse and the ground today was as soft as he would like. He has class, pace and stays and we will now wait and see how he is in the Springtime before making a decision about Cheltenham."
