Dermot Weld has yet to finalise plans for his impressive recent Orby Stakes winner Purview, although the colt is likely to step up to big-race targets by the end of the year.

The Juddmonte-owned and bred four-year-old concluded last year with a Listed success at Cork in September and at the Curragh on May 23, scored smartly by six lengths under Colin Keane in the Listed Orby Stakes.

Weld reports “he came out of his race very well. I haven’t really gone through it in great detail, obviously we’ve discussed it briefly and we have an open mind (as regards plans).

“It’s a long year, and at the end of the year I’d have major targets in mind but his next race, we’ve haven’t really decided yet. Hopefully we’ll make up our minds next week. There is no major panic at the moment, we’re looking at a long year for him please God.

“He was very impressive at the Curragh and he’s a lovely big horse. He’s fulfilling the promise we always though he had.

“I was mad keen to run him over a mile-and-a-half and he enjoyed his race. Onwards and upwards.”
