Weld targets Mooresbridge for Fascinating Fascinating Rock is set to make his seasonal reappearance in the Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh ahead of another crack at the Tattersalls Gold Cup. The Dermot Weld-trained entire took the Group Three Mooresbridge on the way to the Group One back at the Curragh at the end of May, in which he was second to Al Kazeem, last term. He had a summer holiday after that before enjoying a successful autumn campaign that culminated with victory in the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October. "He's in great form, we're happy, it's early days yet," Weld told At The Races. "He had a great season last year, winning from a mile to a mile and a half, and obviously the Champion Stakes at Ascot was the highlight. "He will probably start off at the Curragh in the Mooresbridge Stakes, with his first major target being the Tattersalls Gold Cup. "He tends to take a race so the first race will tell us a lot but his main first target is the big Group One. "I think he can even improve a little more than what he did last year. He doesn't have to improve very much, but I think there is even more to come. "He enjoys a nice ease in the ground, so he might have a summer's break like he had last year and concentrate in the autumn."
