Well backed Takeyourcapoff beats odds-on jolly Yesterday, odds-on shot Shiramiyna took the opening maiden at Killarney, but today the odds-on 4/5 favourite, Sam Lord's Castle couldn't repeat the feat, in the Killarney Oils Maiden over a mile and six furlongs. Its was the Jessica Harrington trained Takeyourcapoff who landed the spoils under Fran Berry, backed from as high as 6/1 this morning into 10/3 clear second favourite at the off. On her penultimate run, she was just under five lengths, fourth to Tornedo Shay in a Qualified Riders Maiden over a mile and six at Leopardstown. She since went back over timber, finishing a good second to Jumbo Rio at Limerick earlier this month. Never too far off the pace, the daughter of King's Theatre, was niggled along from over four furlongs out. However she responded well to her jockey's urgings and moved into second over a furlong out, staying on gallantly inside the final furlong to overtake the favourite Sam Lord's Castle. The winning distance was three parts of a length with a further five and a half lengths back to the third Steel Park at 33/1. Sixteen people make up the winning owners, the Sport Racing Club, who had the excellent, fourteen time winner Micko's Dream in the past and they bred the winning mare themselves. Winning rider Fran Berry said afterwards: "She is tough and her stamina came into play. I thought she was in trouble towards the end of the back straight, but she stays very well and kept going. "She would probably be better over two miles." Donal Murphy
