Trainer John Murphy registered a ‘1-3’ in Killarney’s Brehon Hotel Handicap today, as better-supported Love Sonnet (11/1 — 7/1) won readily under champion jockey Colin Keane.

Love Sonnet, a three-year-old daughter of Shaman, today made her handicap debut having finished well-held in three previous maidens and recorded a 1.5 lengths success from Ranting And Raving, with Murphy’s Eagles Dream (22/1) finishing third.

George Murphy, representing his father, reported “Love Sonnet was good and the step up in trip was a help. Colin (Keane) said she could even go further again. Colin was available to ride, so you don’t leave him in the weigh room.

“We’ll see what happens and she might run again at Leopardstown on Friday. Olivia Hoare and her sister Paula Hewins (owners) are good supporters of ours, so this is great.

“Eagles Dream also ran a lovely race and Seamie (Heffernan) was delighted with her. Hopefully she will also be up to winning soon.”
