Getting Late overturned the short priced favourite Shake It Up as he took the Waltz From A Samba Maiden Hurdle under Mark Walsh for Edward O'Grady.

Available at 6/1 this morning he opened on-course at just 4's before going off the 3/1 second favourite.

Fitted with cheekpieces for the first time the son of Milan disputed the lead with the aforementioned favourite from before three out.

He hit the front at the next and he kicked clear on the run-in, going on to score comfortably by five and a half lengths.

Shake It Up, who was returned at 6/5, had to settle for second under Jonathan Burke for Jim Dreaper while Officer Cadet was a head back in third under Bryan Cooper for Gordon Elliott.

Edward O'Grady, who trains the winner for JP McManus, said afterwards: "The last time he ran Alan Crowe said that he should step up in trip."
