Thurles-based owner/trainer Mark Molloy won with his homebred Welluknow (11/2) in Gowran’s Gain Equine Nutrition Novice Handicap Hurdle today, which scored under jockey Daniel King.

Bred by both Arctic Tack Stud, (which stood sire Ol’ Man River) & Molloy’s Crossogue Stud, the six-year-old had finished third at Navan in September and on handicap debut Limerick last month, and in today’s race led on the run-in when scoring by a neck from Kentucky Beach .

Molloy stated “he’s a big baby and was a July foal. He got a setback last year so it’s just lovely to see him come around. He’s a homebred and it’s a great pleasure when you have been looking at them for a long time.

“I think he’s a nice horse in the making and he handled that ground. We might find something for him around Christmas.”
