Welsh National meeting in doubt The Welsh National meeting at Chepstow on Monday is now subject to a Thursday inspection. Although the track was covered with fleece covers a week ago, there is now up to 10 centimetres of snow on top of the protective sheeting. And with severe frost forecast for the rest of the week, the high-profile fixture is already in doubt. Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "It's a huge meeting and people are starting to get anxious now. "We've been hanging on for the first half of the week and hoping for the best, but there doesn't seem to be an enormous shift in the weather forecast. "Our forecasts tell us the cold air is hanging on and looking less likely to shift over the weekend. "Basically we have called an inspection on Thursday to keep everyone informed and if it looks like we still have a glimmer of hope, we'll go again. "The snowfall we had on Monday doubled the amount we had and it's still there. "The forecast is looking less hopeful now and there is a bit of realism setting in now. "We're still hoping and still working, but we need a bit more help."
