Westerner Lady dictated matters from the front and kept on well to land Cork's novice hurdle for Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh.

The 9/4 shot, from 3/1 in the morning, made all in this three mile contest before quickening up after the second last. She was clear at the final flight and although she didn't put in her best jump there, she still had enough in the tank to beat 6/5 favourite Grecian Tiger by five lengths.

Just the four went to post with Westerner Lady carrying bottom weight of 11-3.

Ruby Walsh said: "She had won over two miles seven furlongs so stamina was never going to be an issue. I said I'd go a gallop and see what happens!"

She won her maiden hurdle over two miles seven at Downpatrick in August and prior to that a two and a half mile bumper in Roscommon.
