Whateys Quest gives Fitzgibbon family emotional Listowel success The Charles Byrnes-trained Whateys Quest (25/1) was an all-the-way winner of the John and Terry Moriarty Memorial QR Handicap Chase at Listowel. The son of Quest For Peace was in front throughout and jumped very well for jockey Abbie Fitzgibbon, who is the sister of Cork hurling captain Darragh Fitzgibbon, to record a length-and-a-quarter success. Speaking after the race, Byrnes said: “Abbie and Darragh (Cork hurling's captain) are sister and brother and this is a very emotional winner for them. They lost a mare at the Galway Festival so were a bit disillusioned by that and this is a great. “Abbie works for me, is from a GAA family and it was great for Darragh and their mother to be here today. Darragh hasn't much of an interest in racing but was here to support Abbie. She is a brilliant girl. “We thought the ground might be too quick so Abbie bucked him out in front.
