On an evening of doubles, Robert Whearty joined the party when winning the Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Buy Online Handicap on 5/1 chance Luke Short

The six-year-old, successful over course and distance last month, came from mid-division to gain a narrow lead inside the final furlong and scored by half a length from Jaafel

Ronan Whelan, the rider of third home Ameerat Jumeirah, was given an eight-day suspension for careless riding after having been found to have caused interference halfway down the straight.

For 5lb claimer Whearty, successful on Little Queenie earlier, it was winner number 18 of the campaign.

The winner is trained for The Spice Of Life Partnership by Noel Meade who said: “He wants quick ground, he just got lost in the muck at Leopardstown.

“I don't know if there is much else here to run him in. If there is another race we might run again but if not we'll probably have to wait until next year with him.

“He would jump on quick ground as well, and he jumps quite well, but we'll have to wait until next year for that.”
